Corning
Corning flew from Victor Curtis Airport to Charlotte Douglas International on June 4, arriving just before 8 a.m. The Bombardier Challenger 850, tail N28CG, made the 71-minute trip, one of several recent hops from the company's upstate New York base.
The same week, the Glass Showcase Americas conference is being held at the Charlotte Convention Center, per the event's website. Corning, the Gorilla Glass and ceramic substrate innovator, is a regular exhibitor and keynote participant at the conference, which runs through June 5. CEO Wendell Weeks is listed as a speaker on the agenda, discussing the future of cover glass and optical communications.
This flight continues a pattern of frequent trips to Charlotte this week—two other Corning aircraft landed at CLT on June 3, and the company operates a significant flight department from Elmira. The headquarters may be in Corning, N.Y., but the banking and glass industries converge in Charlotte often.
