Corning flew from Chicago Executive Airport to Elmira Corning Regional Airport on June 15, a 1-hour 11-minute hop aboard Challenger 850 N28CG. The flight touched down at 7:34 p.m. local time, capping a day that saw Corning aircraft shuttling across multiple states.
The same week, Corning and Amazon announced a multibillion-dollar agreement for optical fiber, cable, and connectivity solutions to support Amazon's U.S. data center expansion, as reported by SiliconAngle and Light Reading on June 8. The deal is expected to create about 1,000 manufacturing jobs at Corning's North Carolina facilities. It follows a $6 billion pact with Meta in January and a multiyear partnership with NVIDIA announced May 6, under which Corning will build three new advanced manufacturing plants in North Carolina and Texas to increase U.S. optical connectivity capacity tenfold [corning.com].
The Chicago-area stop suggests a meeting with a key hyperscale customer or partner before returning to Corning headquarters. While the company maintains a large flight department based at KELM, the day's pattern — including trips to Charlotte and New York — underscores the pace of negotiation as Corning pursues its "Springboard" growth initiative, targeting a $30 billion annualized sales run rate by 2028.
