Corning flew from Veit Airport in Indiana to Morristown Municipal Airport on June 16, 2026, a 21-minute hop aboard Challenger 850 N28CG. The short flight arrives the same week Corning announced a multibillion-dollar partnership with Amazon to expand U.S. production of optical fiber and connectivity products for AI data centers, per a Reuters report on June 8. The deal will create 1,000 jobs at Corning's North Carolina facilities and includes a fiber optic technician training program with Catawba Valley Community College.
The Morristown trip follows a pattern of intense travel for Corning executives in recent weeks. Over the past two days, Corning aircraft have shuttled between Elmira and Charlotte multiple times, as the company oversees construction of three new advanced manufacturing plants in North Carolina and Texas under its May partnership with NVIDIA. Corning's flight department, one of the largest for a company its size, keeps seven aircraft at Elmira-Corning Regional to support CEO Wendell Weeks and senior leadership as they manage this expansion.
The Amazon agreement, combined with earlier deals with Meta and NVIDIA, positions Corning as a critical supplier for AI infrastructure. The company has upgraded its Springboard growth plan, targeting a $30 billion annualized sales run rate by the end of 2028, per a Corning spokesperson. For now, the Challenger 850's quick trip to Morristown suggests a day of meetings in the New York metro area, where Corning maintains investor and customer relationships.
