Corning
Corning flew from Elmira-Corning Regional Airport to Charlotte Douglas International Airport on June 18, 2026, a 1-hour 38-minute hop aboard Falcon 900 N38CG. The aircraft reached a maximum altitude of 28,025 feet and a top speed of 424.5 knots over the 457-nautical-mile route.
Charlotte is the headquarters of Corning’s Optical Communications unit, and this trip lands the same week the company finalized a multibillion-dollar agreement with Amazon to supply optical fiber for data centers, as reported by Reuters and WRAL. The deal is expected to create about 1,000 advanced manufacturing jobs at Corning’s North Carolina facilities, including a fiber optic technician training program with Catawba Valley Community College. The partnership builds on a separate May 2026 announcement with NVIDIA to expand U.S. optical connectivity capacity tenfold.
The Charlotte visit follows a pattern of frequent Corning flights to the region; over the past three days, the company’s aircraft have shuttled multiple times between Elmira and Charlotte, including a May 15 trip tied to the NVIDIA factory rollout. With North Carolina already housing eight Corning plants, this journey appears to be the latest in a series of on-site oversight sessions as the company scales its AI data center supply chain.
