General Electric’s HondaJet HA-420, tail N120GE, touched down at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on May 20 after a brief hop from Culpeper Regional Airport in Virginia. The 84-minute flight brought the aircraft back to its home base following a series of trips that included stops in Boston, Chicago, and Alabama over the previous week.
The return to Cincinnati comes the same week General Electric announced a $14.5 billion commitment from Etihad Airways for GE Aerospace engines and Boeing aircraft, per the Cincinnati Business Courier. That deal followed a $96 billion agreement with Qatar Airways announced May 14 during President Trump’s Middle East visit, which also saw CEO Larry Culp visit China’s state planner alongside Boeing’s CEO, according to Reuters. The Virginia stop likely involved government or industry meetings in the Washington, D.C., area before heading home.
The pattern of short-haul flights in the HondaJet—often used for regional executive travel—reflects the pace of General Electric’s recent trade diplomacy. Culp has been shuttling between key aerospace hubs and the company’s Ohio headquarters as GE Aerospace finalizes engine fixes for the GE9X and locks in historic orders. This trip, bookended by Cincinnati, underscores the central role the city plays in the company’s post-spinoff operations.
