George Lucas flew from Northwest Arkansas National Airport to Teterboro Airport on May 13, a 2-hour-21-minute trip in his Gulfstream V (N138GL) that touched down just after midnight. The flight originated near Bentonville, where Lucas had been since May 11, and landed in New Jersey, a common gateway for Manhattan.
The same week, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles announced its inaugural cinema exhibition, "Star Wars In Motion," per Star Wars News Net on May 5. The museum, co-founded by Lucas and his wife Mellody Hobson, opens September 22 in Exposition Park after more than a decade of planning and a reported $1 billion investment, as covered by the San Francisco Chronicle. Lucas has been deeply involved in curating the 35 galleries, which draw from a collection of more than 40,000 works.
The trip to the New York area fits a pattern: Lucas's Gulfstream V has shuttled between the Bay Area and Southern California repeatedly in recent days, with stops in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. Teterboro offers quick access to Manhattan media and business meetings, suggesting Lucas may have had appointments related to the museum's fall opening or other professional engagements.
