George Lucas flew from Hollywood Burbank Airport to Oakland International Airport on May 17, 2026, a one-hour-and-eleven-minute hop in his Gulfstream V. The short trip came just one day before his 80th birthday celebration, held at Skywalker Ranch on Saturday, May 18.
Per Jedi News, the party was emceed by Steve Martin and attended by roughly 150 guests including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, and many others. The cocktail hour took place in the “Star Wars” gallery, followed by a plated dinner and dancing. Lucas’s wife, Mellody Hobson, was described as an “exceptional host.”
The flight from Burbank fits a pattern of recent trips between Southern California and the Bay Area. Lucas has been shuttling between Los Angeles and his home base as the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art prepares for its September 2026 opening in Exposition Park. But this week, the destination was clearly a party — not a museum.
