George Lucas flew from Teterboro Airport (KTEB) to Oakland International Airport (KOAK) on May 18, 2026, a journey of 2,560 miles that touched down just before 8 p.m. Pacific time. The Gulfstream V, tail number N138GL, completed the five-and-a-half-hour flight as the filmmaker headed home after a brief East Coast stay.
The timing was no coincidence. That same evening, Lucas celebrated his 80th birthday at Skywalker Ranch with a guest list that included Harrison Ford, Oprah Winfrey, and Steven Spielberg, according to a report from the New York Post via Yahoo Entertainment. The party featured Star Wars-themed music, a performance by Alicia Keys, and emcee duties from Steve Martin. Lucas’s wife, Mellody Hobson, hosted the event, which ran from 6 p.m. to midnight.
The Teterboro trip fits a wider pattern: Lucas had flown to the New York area the day prior, likely for business meetings ahead of the September 2026 opening of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles, per the San Francisco Chronicle. The museum’s inaugural exhibitions, curated by Lucas himself, were announced in April. For now, though, the priority was a family affair at the ranch.
