George Lucas flew from Funny Farm Airport, a private airstrip near his Skywalker Ranch, to Chicago Midway International on June 1, landing at 4:51 p.m. local time after a 3-hour, 14-minute flight in a Gulfstream V. The trip marks his first known visit to Chicago this year, following a string of recent flights that included stops in London, Nice, and Seattle over the past ten days.
The same week, Star Wars Celebration 2026 is underway at McCormick Place, per the event's official schedule. The fan convention, which runs through June 4, features panels, exclusive merchandise, and appearances from cast and crew. Lucas, who created the franchise and sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012, has attended previous Celebrations as a guest, though his appearances are rare and unannounced.
Recent flight data shows Lucas has been unusually active in late May, with trips from Chicago to Los Angeles on May 28 and from Seattle to New York on May 21. The Chicago stopover, following a European swing, suggests he may be combining business with a personal appearance at the convention, though no public schedule has been confirmed.
