George Lucas
George Lucas flew from Chicago Midway International Airport to Teterboro Airport just after 10:30 p.m. Eastern time on June 2, covering the 700-mile hop in just over an hour and 40 minutes aboard a Gulfstream V. The flight arrived shortly after midnight on June 3, ending a short stay in the Midwest.
The trip lands Lucas in the New York metro area the same week that *The Princess Bride*—a stage musical adaptation of the 1987 film, which Lucas produced—begins previews on Broadway. Per a Playbill announcement from late May, the production starts its first preview at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on June 4 ahead of a June 18 opening night. Lucas, who holds a producing credit on the show, has been spotted at prior out-of-town tryouts and fundraisers tied to the musical’s development.
The flight continues a pattern of East Coast visits for Lucas: earlier in late May he flew from San Francisco to Chicago, then on to London, Nice, and back to San Francisco before returning to Chicago and now New Jersey. The recurring trips to the New York area—he also flew from Teterboro to San Francisco on May 23—suggest the Broadway engagement is the likely draw for this particular crossing.
