Hess's Gulfstream G650ER, tail N1454H, was tracked flying from Francis S Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach, New York, to Trenton Mercer Airport on June 25, a brief 40-minute hop at 20,000 feet. The aircraft had been on an international itinerary earlier this week, returning from Europe before this short domestic leg.
If Hess was aboard, the timing would place them in central New Jersey the same week Chevron continues implementing workforce reductions from the $53 billion acquisition closed in July 2025. Per a Bud's Offshore Energy report this week, Chevron is cutting up to 8,000 employees by end of 2026, with 575 layoffs already begun at the former Hess Tower in Houston. The integration has drawn industry attention as Chevron absorbs Hess's prized 30% stake in Guyana's Stabroek block.
The flight pattern mirrors recent Hess business travel: the aircraft visited Houston on June 13 and Washington DC on June 14, consistent with post-merger board and regulatory meetings. John Hess joined Chevron's board after FTC clearance in July 2025, per UPI, making regular appearances in the region expected.
