Jeff Lebby
Jeff Lebby flew Mississippi State's Learjet 45 (N204MS) from Rock Hill, South Carolina, to Washington Dulles on June 10, a 1-hour-10-minute hop that put him within driving distance of northern New Jersey. The trip arrived during the summer evaluation period, when coaches can attend camps and make off-campus contact with high-school prospects.
The destination points directly to Derek Zammit, a four-star quarterback from Wayne, New Jersey, who named Mississippi State among his final four schools this week, per On3. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound QB threw for 2,582 yards and 35 touchdowns as a junior, and he has built a close relationship with Jeff Lebby over the last several months. Zammit visited Starkville for spring practice and called the program "heading in the right direction" in an interview with On3.
The Bulldogs' 2026 recruiting class sits 29th nationally with seven commitments, and quarterback is the clear priority after Jeff Lebby landed three-star Brodie McWhorter — a former West Virginia pledge — in May. McWhorter committed on May 15, per Maroon and White Nation, but Jeff Lebby continues to pursue Zammit as a possible second QB in the class. This flight fits the pattern of a coach working the full recruiting map for a pivotal signing group.
