Jon Sumrall flew from Gainesville Regional Airport to Rock Hill-York County Airport on June 10, 2026, a 66-minute hop aboard the University Athletic Association's Phenom 300 (N100FG). The trip lands in the heart of the June contact period, when coaches can make off-campus visits with recruits and their families.
Into Rock Hill, where Florida has been chasing Kennedee Jackson, a four-star offensive tackle from Lithonia, Georgia, ranked the No. 100 overall recruit and No. 8 offensive tackle in the 2027 class per Rivals. Jackson set a commitment date for June 10, and Florida's staff — led by offensive line coach Phil Trautwein, the No. 2 overall recruiter nationally per 247Sports — secured one of his final official visits on May 28. The Gators are competing with North Carolina and others for Jackson, who has praised the program's facilities and coaching relationships, as reported by AtoZ Sports.
The trip continues Sumrall's aggressive recruiting pattern: Florida's 2027 class now ranks No. 9 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC, per Rivals, with recent flips of four-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain from South Carolina and a commitment from three-star athlete Kamarion Johnson over Florida State. Sumrall has described his approach as "no fear" — a phrase that fits a head coach flying into a border-state battleground on a recruit's decision day.
