Jon Sumrall flew from Tuscaloosa to Gainesville early Thursday morning aboard N101FG, a University Athletic Association Phenom 100, landing at 12:10 a.m. local after a 64-minute hop. The trip came during the quiet period, when off-campus contact is limited but official visits are allowed — and Sumrall’s destination pointed straight at a priority recruit.
The Gators have been working to land Kennedee Jackson, a four-star offensive tackle from Lithonia, Georgia, who ranks as the No. 8 tackle in the 2027 class per Rivals. Jackson set a commitment date of June 10, and Florida hosted him for an official visit on May 28, per AtoZ Sports. Sumrall’s late-night return from Tuscaloosa — home to Alabama, one of Jackson’s other finalists — suggests a final in-person push before the lineman’s decision.
Florida’s 2027 class already includes five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, the program’s first five-star lineman in 12 years, per SI.com. Sumrall has made the offensive line a cornerstone of his rebuild, and Jackson would give offensive line coach Phil Trautwein a second elite tackle in the cycle. The Gators currently hold the No. 9 class nationally, per Rivals, and are chasing Jackson as part of a broader push to lock down the state of Georgia.
