Kumar Mangalam Birla
Kumar Mangalam Birla flew from Mumbai's Juhu Aerodrome to Coimbatore International Airport on Thursday, a 90-minute hop in the group's Gulfstream G550 (VT-BRS). The trip comes less than a week after the Aditya Birla Group chairman was the chief guest at the RSS's annual Karyakarta Vikas Varg-Dwitiya in Nagpur, where he called India's economic moment a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," per a Rediff.com report.
That same week, Birla announced Grasim would invest ₹3,094 crore to expand Lyocell fibre capacity in Karnataka—described as "a vote of confidence in the scale and promise of the Indian market" in a Business Today article. Coimbatore, a major textile and manufacturing hub, hosts several group facilities and is within driving distance of the new Harihar plant.
The flight continues a busy stretch for Birla, who earlier this month returned from London and made stops in Punjab. Coimbatore, a recurring destination in his travel pattern, suggests operational oversight as the group pushes deeper into sustainable fibres and specialty textiles.
