Lakshmi Mittal
Lakshmi Mittal touched down at Vélizy-Villacoublay Air Base outside Paris on Monday, June 1, after a one-hour flight from London Luton aboard his Bombardier Global 7500, G-LOBX. The short hop comes just days after he returned from India, where he visited family and attended to business interests in the subcontinent.
The trip to Paris coincides with ArcelorMittal's announcement this week of a €1.5 billion investment in a new low-carbon steelmaking facility in Dunkirk, as covered by Les Echos. Mittal, who continues to serve as executive chairman of the world's largest steelmaker, is expected to meet with French officials and company executives to finalize the project's timeline and regulatory approvals.
Mittal, who moved his tax residence to Switzerland last year but maintains a busy travel schedule between Europe and India, has been increasingly focused on Europe's green steel transition. The Paris meeting, following his visits to London and Nice last week, underscores the company's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint in the region, even as it navigates shifting trade policies and global demand.
