Michael Bloomberg flew from Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport on May 17, touching down in 47 minutes aboard his Dassault Falcon 900LX, tail N47EG. The short hop from coastal Virginia came two days after an earlier inbound leg from the New York area, suggesting a brief visit to the Hampton Roads region.
The same week, Bloomberg Philanthropies and the incoming COP30 presidency announced a partnership “to turbocharge global climate progress,” per the official COP30 website. The agreement, signed in New York on April 29, aims to mobilize at least $1.3 trillion annually by 2035 for developing countries and to help triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030. Bloomberg, who serves as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Climate Ambition and Solutions, has long made climate advocacy a central pillar of his public work.
The flight fits a pattern: Bloomberg’s three Falcon 900s — N5MV, N47EG, and the unregistered N8AG — frequently shuttle between his New York base, Boston, London, and Quebec City, mixing Bloomberg LP business with philanthropic and political travel. This week, the destination was home, but the context was a global stage.
