Michael Bloomberg flew from Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey to Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport on the evening of May 21, a six-and-a-half-hour transcontinental hop aboard his Dassault Falcon 900LX, N47EG.
The trip lands the same week Bloomberg Philanthropies and Johns Hopkins University announced the creation of the Mayors AI Forum, a global coalition designed to help city leaders shape how artificial intelligence is developed and deployed in local government. Bloomberg unveiled the initiative at the Bloomberg CityLab 2026 summit, per a press release from his foundation. The forum will bring together mayors from San Francisco, San Antonio, and other cities to share best practices and influence AI policy at the municipal level — a subject Bloomberg has increasingly focused on through his philanthropic data and innovation programs.
The flight also follows a pattern of political engagement: in early May, Bloomberg donated an additional $1.25 million to a super PAC supporting Colorado Senator Michael Bennet’s gubernatorial bid, as reported by The Colorado Sun, bringing his total backing to $2.5 million. While Sonoma County isn’t a typical political stop, the AI forum’s ties to West Coast mayors and Bloomberg’s broader climate and tech advocacy make the trip consistent with his post-mayoral calendar.
