Netflix flew from Santa Barbara to Burbank on the morning of May 20, a 25-minute hop in its Gulfstream G550 (N533GV) that touched down just north of Hollywood. The aircraft, which Netflix has operated since 2018, arrived at a moment when the company’s presence in Los Angeles is particularly pronounced.
The same week, Netflix wrapped its third annual Is a Joke Fest, a citywide comedy takeover that ran May 4 through May 10 across more than 45 venues, per a Time.news report. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos hosted an invite-only brunch on May 7, drawing Dave Chappelle, Adam Sandler, and other headliners. Separately, the Hollywood Reporter noted this week that Netflix is in advanced negotiations to buy Radford Studio Center in Studio City for roughly $330 million, a deal that would give the streamer its own Los Angeles production campus.
The Burbank arrival follows a pattern of Southern California shuttling: N533GV flew from Burbank to Santa Barbara on May 7 and again on May 10, suggesting the aircraft is serving as a connector between Netflix’s Los Angeles operations and the Santa Barbara area, where executives maintain residences. With the festival done and a studio purchase pending, the short flight fits the company’s busy spring calendar.
