Samsung flew from Gary/Chicago International Airport to New York Stewart International Airport on June 7, 2026, aboard its Korean Air-chartered Boeing 787-8 BBJ, tail HL8508. The 1-hour-50-minute hop from the Midwest to the Hudson Valley followed a week of U.S. travel that included stops in California and Indiana.
The same week, Samsung Electronics announced a $44 billion investment to build a semiconductor packaging plant in Taylor, Texas, and expand its U.S. R&D footprint, per a company press release on June 5. The New York leg coincides with a series of investor meetings and a potential stop at the Samsung 837 digital experience center in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, where the company often showcases new chip and display technologies to partners and analysts.
The flight continues a pattern of executive travel connecting Samsung’s Korean headquarters with its sprawling U.S. operations. Lee Jae-yong, who relies on Korean Air’s VIP charter fleet since Samsung sold its own aircraft in 2015, has been shuttling between Silicon Valley, Chicago, and the East Coast this month — a route that mirrors the company’s push to secure U.S. chip subsidies and court American tech clients.
