Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan flew from Abu Dhabi to EuroAirport Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg on June 20, arriving aboard the presidential Boeing 777-200ER, tail A6-ALN, after a six-hour, 51-minute flight. The airport serves the trinational Basel region, a common gateway for the French spa town of Évian-les-Bains, about 90 minutes away by road.
The trip follows the UAE president’s participation in the 52nd G7 Leaders’ Summit in Évian-les-Bains, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron from June 15 to 17, per a report from Emirates Reporter. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks with leaders including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, according to The National, with discussions centered on the US-Iran peace agreement and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The Basel landing marks the latest in a rapid series of diplomatic movements. Recent flights tracked by celebplanes show Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan flew from Cairo to London on June 15, then from London to an area near Crete on June 16, before returning to Abu Dhabi. The G7 appearance and subsequent arrival in Basel underscore the UAE’s expanding role in regional security talks and economic partnerships, particularly in energy and artificial intelligence.
