Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum flew from Dubai to London Stansted on June 16, 2026, aboard the Boeing 747-412F freighter A6-GGP. The 7-hour 29-minute flight, operated by Dubai Air Wing, touched down at 12:44 UTC at an airport frequently used for equestrian logistics.
The arrival coincides with the first day of Royal Ascot, the most celebrated meeting in international horse racing, underway this week in Berkshire. Sheikh Mohammed founded Godolphin in 1992, and the operation has recorded more than 60 winners at the festival. As the Khaleej Times reports, Godolphin is strongly represented in Tuesday’s Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes and the St James’s Palace Stakes, with trainer Charlie Appleby saddling contenders including Notable Speech and First Conquest. The 747 freighter is known to transport racehorses globally, per the Majorca Daily Bulletin, and its timing points directly to supporting the week’s racing programme.
The flight is one of several between Dubai and UK airfields this month. Records show A6-GGP made a round trip to Stansted on June 13 and again on June 14-15, consistent with the movement of horses and equipment ahead of the five-day meeting. The pattern underscores that for the Ruler of Dubai, the most valuable cargo in his fleet is often not gold or oil, but thoroughbreds in royal blue silks.
