SpaceX's Boeing 737-800, registered as N154TS, lifted off from Los Angeles International Airport on May 11 at 2:54 p.m. Pacific time, covering the 1,300-mile route to Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport in under three hours. This grey-liveried workhorse, equipped with rooftop antennas for connectivity, serves as a vital link for the company's 13,000 employees shuttling between Hawthorne headquarters and remote sites.
The flight coincides with ramped-up activity at Starbase, where SpaceX readies for Starship Flight 12, its twelfth integrated test of the massive reusable rocket system. Per a recent FAA notice, liftoff could come as early as May 12, though the window extends to mid-month. As USA Today reported on May 1, this marks the third target adjustment for the mission, a testament to the trial-and-error ballet of spaceflight innovation.
Such trips are routine for SpaceX, with recent logs showing back-and-forth jaunts on May 10, 9, and 6 between the California coast and South Texas plains—each burning through gallons of fuel to keep the multiplanetary dream aloft. One can't help but note the irony: rocketing to the stars begins with a very earthly commute.
