SpaceX's Boeing 737-800 N154TS completed a brief 27-minute flight from Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport on May 14, likely a routine crew transfer or equipment test. The aircraft, a high-capacity shuttle that typically runs Los Angeles to Brownsville three times a week, instead stayed local—a sign of heightened activity at Starbase.
The same week, SpaceX announced the debut launch of its Starship V3 megarocket, targeting May 19 at 6:30 p.m. ET from Pad 2 in Boca Chica, as reported by Space.com. The flight will be the first for the redesigned vehicle, which features Raptor 3 engines and upgraded heat shielding. With a suborbital profile and no booster catch planned, the mission aims to validate systems for future lunar and Mars ambitions.
SpaceX's shuttle fleet frequently moves engineers and executives between Hawthorne headquarters and the Texas launch site. This short hop, coming days before a major test flight, underscores the final push to clear technical milestones—including the recent successful launch rehearsal and static fire tests—before Starship's return to flight after a seven-month hiatus.
