State Farm
State Farm flew from Las Vegas to its Bloomington, Illinois headquarters on May 15, touching down at Central Illinois Regional Airport at 2:14 a.m. aboard a Dassault Falcon 900EX (tail N43SF). The late-night return from KLAS follows a week of flights between Nevada and Illinois, a pattern that suggests meetings or strategy sessions away from the insurer’s home base.
The same week, California’s Department of Insurance announced it is seeking to suspend State Farm’s license for up to a year and levy millions in penalties, alleging the company mishandled claims from the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. Per a Bloomberg report on May 4, an investigation found 398 violations of state law in a sample of 220 claims, including delayed payments, unreasonably low settlement offers, and repeated reassignment of adjusters. The department’s action, covered by the San Francisco Chronicle, also cites failures to communicate with policyholders and improper handling of smoke damage claims.
The timing is notable: State Farm’s fleet has been unusually active, with multiple round trips between Bloomington and Las Vegas in the past week. The company, which paid $5.7 billion on more than 11,700 wildfire claims, now faces an administrative hearing within 30 days that could determine whether it can continue writing policies in California.
