Walmart flew from Rogers Municipal Airport in Arkansas to a remote airstrip near Destin, Florida, on Thursday, May 28, a 1-hour-36-minute hop in the company’s Embraer Praetor 500, tail number N383PA. The aircraft landed at coordinates 30.394, -86.467 just before 8 p.m. local time.

The same week, Walmart holds its annual shareholders meeting in Fort Walton Beach, about 15 miles west of the landing site. The event, which typically draws thousands of associates, investors, and executives, is the company’s primary stakeholder gathering for the year. CEO John Furner, who took the top job on February 1, 2026, is required under board policy adopted last year to use company aircraft for all business and personal travel, a directive rooted in a third-party security assessment. That policy extends to Furner, his predecessor Doug McMillon, and CFO John Rainey. Disclosed personal aircraft use for Furner in FY26 totaled $231,031, per Walmart’s proxy filing.

The flight to the Florida Panhandle continues a pattern of recent trips: on May 6, one of Walmart’s two Praetor 500s flew from San Jose, California, to an intermediate stop near Tonopah, Nevada, before continuing to Bentonville. The day before that, the same aircraft went from Dallas to Arkansas. Destin is not among Walmart’s recurring destinations listed in the briefing, but the shareholder meeting provides a clear business rationale for the journey — and for the company’s insistence that its top executives fly private.
