NEW YORKER

NEW YORKER Group-Services International GmbH & Co. KG — the holding entity behind the NEW YORKER youth-fashion chain, headquartered in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony. The first store opened in 1971 under Tilmar Hansen and Michael Simson; Friedrich Knapp joined early, took the business over, and grew it past its first billion in sales by December 2006. As of late 2022 the group ran roughly 1,150 branches across 47 countries with more than 23,000 employees, making it one of the largest privately held retailers in Germany. It is not connected to the American magazine of the same name.

Knapp died on 15 November 2024 on Sylt, aged 73, as sole owner. Succession had been arranged in advance: his daughter Sophie Knapp sits as deputy chair of the supervisory board, and Jonas Gnauck — a long-time confidant elevated to the NEW YORKER SE board in May 2024 — now runs the business alongside Helene Steiner. A private foundation, NEW YORKER Stiftung. Friedrich Knapp, holds part of the structure.

VP-CFK is a Bombardier Global 7500 (BD-700-2A12, S/N 70009, hex 4247B6) on the Cayman Islands register. The registry row and the ADS-B databases name the managers rather than the owner — ExecuJet Europe AG in one, AXIS Aviation Switzerland in another — which is the standard offshore-trustee pattern for European corporate jets. The NEW YORKER attribution comes from the spotter record, where the airframe is captioned to New Yorker Group Services International and is photographed repeatedly at Braunschweig-Wolfsburg, the company's home field.

Braunschweig-Wolfsburg is the working assumption for the base on the strength of those sightings; it is eight kilometres from the Hansestraße headquarters and its 2,300 m runway takes the type comfortably. That is inference from photographs, not an operator filing, so the real anchor will come from tracked flights rather than from expectation.
